The main priority for a blogger is to show visitors that your blog has the right structure and a interesting feel.. The best way to do that is by optimizing your blog in the best possible way, of course this would require some work, but trust me it’s worth it.

Take your time to write a good about and contact page

One of the first things visitors do when they visit your blog is go to your about me page. If your about me page doesn’t interest them they will probably leave and never come back. On the about me page you should be like a friend for the reader. You should also list all the reasons why people should read your blog. If you want to write an interesting about page try following these tips.

1. Why Read This Blog

Your about me page should not only explain what your blog is about, but it should also give a reason on why your readers should come back. You should list down all the benefits of your blog and make sure you send out a strong message on why your readers should come back often. This way readers know you want people to read your blog and are interested in getting to know new people.

2.      Personal Relation

When you visit an about me page you will proberly expect some background or personal information about the blogger, right? Well, the problem is most bloggers don’t list personal information or lack information about themselves.

On your about me page you need an in depth overview of your back ground and personal information, ok I’m not saying you need to get too personal, but it’s good to put some personal stuff. By doing this you will open yourself to your audience and create trust and credibility. Visiter’s will get to know you better and understand you better so it will always benefit you and your readers. If you do succeed with creating a good personal relationship with your readers it is most likely they will be regular readers of your blog.

3.      Contact Information

One very important element of your blog is of course the contact page. When your readers or visitors have a question for you, what do you think they are going to do?

Yep, they are going to contact you with email, but how do you expect them to do that if they can’t find your contact information.

Imagine this scenario, a daily reader has been reading your blog for 2 weeks now and has a very important question for you. He tries to find your contact details, but after searching your whole blog he can’t find your details. He eventually gets frustrated and  leaves your blog…..hmmm, What do you think you’ve just done? Indeed you’ve just lost a regular reader of your blog. This would of never happened if you had you your contact details on your blog. Just think about it, don’t you just hate it when you want to contact someone, but can’t figure out how to get their attention.

You may have a great blog with amazing content, but one underestimated part of your blog is the blog design. Most people say content is king, although this is true I still think that a blog design is also very important. Some bloggers tend to pay more attention to the design, because they want the perfect design, instead of having quality content and as this occurs, you can bet your money that you will get crappy content.

The best thing to do is to find the right balance and the right blending between the design and content. The best result you can get is if you have a attractive blog design that makes the content stand out so that readers have a easy overview of the content. You may want fancy graphics, cool colors, great features and lots of pictures, but you need to make sure you don’t over do it as too many features can have a negative effect because your blog will become too crowed and have no breathing space. Here are a few things regarding your blog design

1. Simplicity is the best solution

Having a simple design is a fast and great way to showcase your content as the reader won’t get distracted and will focus on the content written. Some bloggers go for the simple design when blogging as they want the readers to get straight to the point and read the content. It’s better to have a simple design instead of having all the colours of a rainbow. Not only will  bright colors make you lose concentration, it will also make you blind and I’m pretty sure most of us would like to keep our eyesight.

2. A picture says 100 words

Your blog posts should include images at all costs. Many bloggers may not do this, but including images in your blog posts adds an extra dimension to your blog. It makes your blog look more professional and interesting. When you only have a blog with all massive blocks of texts with no images it can scare the visitor away.

3. Easy to read text

Make sure your text is easy to read with black letters. As they say the bigger the better. The typography you should choose should be easy to read. The best letter size to choose is between 12 and 14.

4. Sidebar not cluttered

Sidebars have a important function in usability and appearance. A good looking sidebar can make it easier for readers to find what they are looking for, this way they will stay at your site longer. On the dark side, cluttered sidebars can ruin your whole blog design and can create tension. Poor sidebars also lead to frustrated visitors.

Content is and always will be king

The most important part of your blog is the content. If you don’t have good content, not many people will read your blog. You need to blog about something your passionate about. Don’t forget Content is king and promotion is queen.

1. Write how-to guides

People love helpful information. When they need help or are looking for in depth information, how-to guides will be the perfect resource. Just be sure to include useful information.

2. People always learn new things

If you pay close attention every blog actually has the same kind of content, but the only difference is that it’s written differently. Even though you see similar content on other blogs you should not be discouraged to write about the same subject, because every individual always has his own writing ability and own words to describe something. Just because a blogger in the same niche has written a specific topic, it doesn’t mean you can’t write about it as well. Readers actually like reading different blogs with similar content, because they get different ideas and always gain knowledge. They get to look at a situation from a different perspective. Everyone has their own opinion about a specific subject. Everyone always pick up new things.

Create a community

The best thing about a blog is that, not only are you controlling the blog, but your readers have a massive contribution to your blog as well. Your readers will be giving their own opinion on your blog through comments.

Here are a few tips on how you can create a community

1. Ask for a opinion

A good way to get lots of comments and feedback is by asking some open-ended questions at the end of your post. Ask questions like “what’s your opinion” or “does anyone else have any good suggestions”. When asking these kinds of questions people feel like your post is aimed at them and they feel more comfortable to leave comments.

2. Respond to most comments

This is very important with blogs. As you know, I’m almost certain you don’t like being ignored, right? By responding to every comment on your blog your readers will now that you care about them and are listing to what they have to say. This is a strong and effective way to create a community.

Mostly if I am within the same age group as the blogger i like to read some posts he´s written because I would like to see how other bloggers within my age group write and what opinions they have compared to mine. We bloggers can learn of each other.

Contact forms are also very important for blogs. Readers get the chance to interact with you and communicate with you.

Imagine this situation:

You´ve just discovered a fantastic blog and absolutely love everything about that blog. So you thought of sending the blogger a email with a few questions and tell him about how much you like the blog, so there you are looking for his contact page, after looking around you realize he doesn’t have a contact page and there is no other way to contact him. Wouldn’t that just make you mad? It sure would get me annoyed.

As we continue with part 2 don’t forget to read part 1 as well.1 common question that’s been asked many times is ‘How much should you post’.

So far I haven’t really quite seen a good answer, but I’ll give it a go to answer this question.

To be honest, my opinion is that some post frequencies are worth doing, while others are not worthwhile. This mostly depends on 2 very important factors: The popularity of your blog and the posting frequency.

If you’ve just launched a new blog, it will be most likely that you’ll receive none or under the 100 unique per day, that’s not much traffic, right? Because of this reason it is best to not post every day, but instead post every 2 or 3 days. Now let me clarify my reason.

Let’s say you’ve launched a new blog and receive 50 unique per day. With this very little traffic you’re sure not to increase the popularity of your blog because you won’t get the certain amount of exposure for your posts to take your blog to the next level. It’s like missing a piece of a jigsaw puzzle.

What I’m trying to say is that you should let your posts get enough exposure so you can continue expanding you’re frequency and consistency.

By posting too much on your new blog you decrease the amount of potential your blog can achieve. Why post every day, when receiving 50 unique, while you can post after 2 days exposing your post to 100 unique or even more? Why post a new article when you know you haven’t reached maximum exposure?

Getting little traffic means that you won’t have many readers to your blog. By posting too much on a new blog you’ll only be able to expose your post to a very little audience, but instead if you post every 2 or 3 days your post will be exposed to a bigger audience.

I also believe that posting every few days will increase the reader’s attention span, because the visitor knows you only post every few days he/she will take the time to  read your whole post when reading, but if you post every day readers will just scan the content, because they know that there will be new content the next day.

If having enough time to post, the ideal posting frequency would be every 2 or 3 days for a small start up blog.

On the other hand

When you hit the 500-1000 unique mark, I then would start posting more often as you have the chance to expose your posts to a larger audience. It would be more logical to post every day because your readership is increasing. You’ll also have a bigger chance that your posts will then start to spread through word of mouth and that’s when your blog mostly starts its road to success.

Most of you would probably be asking yourselves, how do I know when my post have reached maximum exposure? Well I have a solution for this too.

The best way to too find out when your post are reaching their peak is by keeping an eye on the amount of traffic you receive and amount of comments you get. If you clearly see a significance decrease of traffic, page views and comments then it is most likely that your post has reached its peak. When you see a decrease of 30% traffic loss I personally think it is time for a new post. 

Depending on the situation, you should realize what the most effective frequency is in terms of your blog and your readers. Just remember that, although content is king, traffic is the queen and they cannot survive without each other. Always consider quality more important than quantity.

• You will get comments and opinions
• You build a community and become a trustworthy
• Your blog can become a hit and receive lots of buzz
• Your blog will be considered more important to search engines
• Your blog will have a higher chance on getting ranked high for particular keywords.

How to improve consistency and post frequently?

• Use the wordpress timestamp plugin to automatically schedule your blog posts.
• Always have ideas and keywords written on drafts as they will become valuable in the future when you can’t think of any topics.
• Hire some blog article writers if you don’t have enough time to write.
• Find people to write guest posts on your blog.
• Create a daily schedule for writing blog posts and stick to it.

Is there such thing as perfect blog schedule?

To be honest it actually depends on what you’re looking for? If you’re quite ambitious and want to make a full time job blogging then it is recommended to blog every day, however daily blog posting defiantly increases the chance for your readers to check out your blog daily, it also is very time consuming and takes a big sacrifice to commit yourself to blogging every day. 

Some bloggers like to post daily while others like to post every 2 days. It actually depends on how much time you have. I usually tend to post every 2 to 3 days as I’m quite busy with college at the moment. Another reason I like to post every 2 days is because I get 1 day to relax, brainstorm, read other blogs and freedom to pick a topic to write about.

So while some bloggers post every day, others like to post ever other day or few times a week. It all comes down to how much you’re capable to write. At the end you need to consider what the best is for you and your readers

A very interesting question I’ve seen in the last couple of days is if you could still make money in the make money online niche. Many people say no it would be a big mistake to even try it, while other people say yes it is still profitable.

Everybody knows that the make money online niche is a very popular niche. Who doesn’t want to make extra money online? It’s one of the biggest and in demand niches on the web. There are thousands of people daily who enter the make money online niche and eventually fail to succeed.

Although the make money online niche is fairly saturated, I still think there are good opportunities to make money in the make money online niche. Just think about it why would this niche be so crowded? Ah yes, because it’s a profitable niche.

At the moment people who are trying to blog in the make money online niche are quickly realizing that this niche has a massive amount of competition and are scared away because they think it’s impossible to make money in the saturated make money online niche. I personally think the bigger the competition, the more money there is to be made, because there will be a larger audience wanting to look at your site, right? Now just think about this, let’s say you’ve got a blog about make money online and after a lot of hard work your blog has reached the top page in Google search engine, you’ll be getting at least 2000 unique per day or maybe more and if you can convert that traffic into buying products, referrals or clicking on ads than you’ll be making a nice sum of money.

 The other problem I’ve heard from a lot of people is that webmasters with make money online blogs don’t earn a lot of money with pay per click, because most of the people who visit your blog are webmaster themselves. That means your competitors visit your blog and I can guarantee that no way in hell they will click your ads or do something where you will earn some money. I honestly can say that although this is true, if you can rank high in search engines you won’t be having this problem anymore because 80 % of traffic from search engines are always newbie’s and mostly don’t really know much about the make money online niche. It’s most likely they will follow your instructions and do as you say because they think you’re an expert in your niche.

So, before you start thinking that making money in the make money online niche is impossible I would like to tell you to think again, because there are still people entering the make money online niche and becoming a success.

Instead of saying to yourself that you won’t make it in this saturated niche, try to rise up to the challenge and put some hard effort into what you’re trying to achieve. Don’t forget everything involves hard work. Just be patience, keep on working hard and you will see some satisfying results at the end of the day.

I believe the possibilities to success are endless, if developing the right game plan.

Every body’s motive for creating a blog is mostly because they want to become successful and make a good steady income, although every individual has he’s own reasons for creating a blog, the most and common reason for starting a blog is of course to make money online.

Myth 1:”Blogging will make you rich very fast”

Answer: Definatly not, it’s like saying money grows on trees.

Well, of course blogging can make you rich, but it’s all up to you to make that happen. If you do your research, traffic methods, monetization, and of course create fresh and unique articles, then it’s only a matter of time before you start making a name for yourself in the blogosphere.

In my early days of blogging I also thought that blogging would be an easy task and that I would see money rolling in from the day I started blogging, unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

After 1 month of blogging I finally made a little amount of 10 dollars from Adsense and even though it’s not something to be proud of, it actually felt good and gave me faith that it was possible to make money online. From that moment I actually realized and thought: Hang on for a minute, if I can make 10 dollars from Adsense with my new 1 month old blog, just think of how much I can earn after 1 year when it will be established and fully monetized.

Most blogger’s fail because they are unable to stay patience. Bloggers mostly blog for a few weeks and if they don’t generate any income from there blog they just give up blogging, but what they don’t realize is that blogging is a long term commitment and it can take months for your blog to generate a bit of income.

If you can stay patience and work hard to make your blog succeed then things will go your way and the money will be rolling in as well.

Myth 2:”Blogging is easy”

Answer: If blogging was easy, why isn’t every blogger a success by now?    

Many people say: Blogging is just about writing and then publishing your article on your blog. It all seems very easy from the outside, but what they don’t see is all the work blogging involves like, promoting a blog, maintaining a blog, researching a topic, Monetizing a blog and other little details.

Blogging means working hard and I mean working really hard every single day. Even when you have those days when you absolutely don’t feel like blogging you still need to find the motivation and discipline to blog. You constantly need to post new content on your blog to keep your blog in top shape and of course interesting for your visitors.

Myth 3:”Blogging will get you easy traffic”

Answer:”Nope, wrong again. To gain traffic you need to consistently promote your blog.

I’ve heard many people say that after promoting their blog they’ve had a period where they had some great traffic and then out of no where their traffic drastically drops. What they don’t realize is that to grow and keep a consistence amount of traffic coming in you need to consistently promote your blog and not just promote it once every few months.

Some bloggers are satisfied with 100 visitors a day, while other bloggers aim higher and are satisfied with 1000 a day. If you want a popular blog then it is absolute vital to use all the marketing methods to get traffic to your blog, like forum marketing, article marketing, writing guest posts, blog commenting on related blogs, submitting your website to directory’s and other ways.

Don’t forget without traffic your blog is like a dead graveyard. Without traffic you won’t be able to get readers and most important you won’t make any money online.

Myth 4:” Blogging is not considered a business”

Answer:”It most certainly is. You should start treating it like a business if you want to be succesful.

Is blogging a business? Nah, that’s what most people will say, but if you look at some of the big boys like Johnchow and Problogger I’m pretty sure to say that they have a nice business that earns them a 5 figure or more income every month.

When I started blogging I first thought hmm a couple of extra dollars per month doesn’t sound too bad, but as soon as I started hitting the $50 mark I thought hmm maybe there is some money to be made from blogging and that’s when I started treating blogging a business. That meant writing content, marketing and search engine optimizing almost every day.

Even though I started blogging as a hobby I soon started making a bit of money(not anything to be proud of as it wasn’t a lot) and oh boy does it feel good to make a nice little income on the side.

I actually got myself in a rather complicated situation a few days ago. While I was at the airport I got in a conversation with a old teacher of mine who I most surprisingly saw sitting down next to me. He used to teach be business/finance and recently started his  own software company. So when he asked if I had any job or business I said I owned a few blog’s and that I considered that a business. The funny thing was that when I said that he started looking at me as if I was some kind of retard lol, but when I told him I make around $200 every month(these figures where on some other blogs I owned, but I stopped as they where only built for getting paid to post sites, I’ll get into more detail about this method in the future) he totally changed his view on blogging and started to gain some interest. He then started asking me a few questions about blogging and I could pretty much tell that the first thing he would’ve do when he got home was search on the internet about blogging. If only I could impress him when he used to be my teacher lol.

So is blogging starting to become more of a business than a hobby now days? Would you still be blogging if there is no revenue to be made from blogging?

Myth 5:”1000’s of new blogs are launched every day, uou can’t make any money with all that competition”

Answer:”True, but out of those 1000 blogs only a few make money blogging.

With the massive popularity blogging has gained in the last few years, it comes to no surprise that everyone wants a crack at starting a blog and even make money blogging. With this popular trend continuing thousands of blogs are launched every single day. This means more competition and less chance to make money online. The good thing is that out off all these thousands of blogs, only 100 bloggers really stay active and still maintain their blog after 3 month’s and to make it even more interesting out of those 100 only 10 are able to start earning more then $100 every month after 6 months. The rest of the bloggers lose interest and stop blogging. I know it’s harsh, but it’s the reality and most bloggers need to realise that if you want to be make money blogging, then you need to work hard.

With all the people saying that blogging is too saturated to make money, I’d like to think otherwise because with all these thousands of blogs being launched every day only 100 bloggers have the persistence to stick to their blog. Out of those 100 there are only a few blogs who start to make some money online blogging.

So what I’m actually trying to say is that there’s always room for new blog’s. Don’t be discouraged by the fact that there are millions of blogs. If you have something interesting to say or have a nice idea in mind all I can say is, why not give it a shot? You don’t have anything to lose and who knows you might be the new superstar in the blogosphere.

At least 90% of all bloggers make some vital mistakes which can break their blog into little pieces. When starting a blog I think you should always do some research on how to start a blog and how to maintain a blog. So you could kick start your blog in the best possible way.

In this post my aim is to show you, why most bloggers are failing and not getting any success with their blog.

If you don’t make these mistakes as a blogger you will most likely have a higher chance to succeed online. By continuing working hard on keeping your blog in good shape and not making these mistakes you will be more successful. If you are making these mistakes, there´s still time to change your blogging habits my friend.

1.You are  lazy

This is the biggest mistake bloggers make, after blogging for 2 weeks they get lazy and just can´t be bothered to blog again. Well, I understand you become lazy and don´t feel like working, because even I have those days when i need a break and don´t feel like updating my blog, but I force myself and try to motivate myself to still try and post.

Don’t forget ´no pain, no gain´ If you want to be successful you will need to do things in life, that you don’t feel like doing. To overcome this habit you can try finding some inspiration or by writing some motivation notes on what you want to achieve with your blog. Notes defiantly have helped me in times of need.

So get off your lazy butt and start blogging.

2.You Only Blog For Money

That´s right, most blogger´s only blog for money. They write some posts and expect to start making money the next day. I´m afraid it doesn´t work like that, mate. It takes months of hard work to start making money online. If you only blog for money, i´m guessing you don’t enjoy blogging. If you don´t enjoy blogging, there´s a possibility you will just stop blogging as you don’t have any interest in what you are doing.

I´m not saying it’s a bad thing to only blog for money. I´m just trying to say don´t let money be the only motive to blog, because if that´s the case, i´m pretty sure you will not last long. I mean, who doesn´t want to make some extra money blogging?

Choose something  your passionate about and you’ll have more chance to make money online.

3. You Don´t Have a Consistent Writing Style

When blogging you have 2 different writing style´s You have the professional and serious and you have the friendly, cool, personal type of writing style. When starting your blog, decide which kind of writing style you want. Make sure you consistently write in the same style every time you write a post.  So do you want to write professional articles  and keep your blog strictly business or do you want to keep a friendly blog by building a community. It’s up to you what to do

The last thing readers want to see is a blog that writes each and every post in a different writing style. Once your readers get a habit of reading your posts they expect your post to be written in the same way every time on your blog and if you start changing your writing style, readers will stop reading your blog.

So don’t forget to keep a consistent writing style.

4. You Don´t Interact With Your Reader´s

Readers want to interact with you and be your friend. When readers comment on your blog they are expecting a reply from you and by replying back you show them you are interested in what they have to say and they will notice that you really know what you are talking about. When you reply it shows that you appreciate and understand them.

Readers want to know what your opinion is and why? Try starting a conversation when your readers comment on your blog. Also you will gain new post idea´s from comments for your next blog post.

The worst thing you can do is not respond to comments and your emails. This will make the readers feel like you don’t care what they have to say.

5. You Don’t Show Any Ambition

You´re biggest mistake is that you give up to soon. Many bloggers give up after seeing they don´t make money online and don´t make any progress with their blog. Well, instead of giving up why not try even harder to achieve your goals, huh? Even if it means working an extra 30 minutes, why not? If you know you can achieve your goals and if you really want to achieve your goals why not? All the big boys in the blogging niche could of give up in a instant, but no they were determined to reach their goals and look where they are now? Shoemoney, Johnchow, Problogger they all make more $10,000 per month. They all are living the perfect blogging life style.

Pretty relaxed isn´t it?

You heard me right, you have to be unique and be yourself. Don’t pretend to be some rich blogger, when in reality you’re actually not. Also don’t try to copy the same writing style or same structure and posts of some popular blog only because its a successful blog. Instead build yourself a solid reputation and try to get in the same position your own way.

To be honest, when you look at the other dozens of blog, they all look similar don’t they? They all have the same features, don’t they? So what really makes them stand out?

The only conclusion I can really think of, is that people make their blog stand out by having different content, as they say content is king.

The long old debate of how long a blog post should be, eh?

There are no limits on how long your blog posts can be, varying from 100 words to 500 words and sometimes even 1000 words.

Bloggers have the power to write long or short posts now days. If you feel like writing long posts you can do it’s all up to you or if you feel like writing short posts you can do that to.

Most bloggers do feel that long posts are better than short posts, because they have more information in the posts, but that doesn’t always have to be true.

Here are some ways to look at this situation.

1. Reader Attention Span

It is well known that most web readers have a very short attention span when reading posts. Most visitors like to scan your content and not fully read your content in detail. They rather prefer short posts that are quality rather than long posts.

When I’m visiting a blog I mostly always scan the content first and if the content is eye catching I will read the full post.

2. Time is money

 Everyone wants as much time to do the things they love, right? You could be going out, watching TV, going to work, doing personal stuff. By writing short posts you save time to do other things you like as it will take you less time than writing long posts. 

Reader’s also don’t have all the time in the world. Maybe there in a hurry, but still want to read a quick short blog post before they go to work.

3. Quantity of posts

This is the most important aspect of a blog, because you need to find the right time on when to post the right content. You will need to learn not to post everything in 1 post, but instead spread your content and posts. Until you start getting some decent traffic or regular readers try keeping your best and in depth post for later.

When writing short posts it allows you to generally write more posts and write more often on your blog. Because the posts aren’t so long you still have ideas left and can use those ideas to write some new posts.

When you write longer posts, you always give out as much information possible to the readers, don’t forget that you can run out of ideas, because you’ve already told them everything you wanted to say.

Conclusion

I always prefer to write posts that have minimum 250 words. I’m not picking any side as i personally feel that long and short posts have their own benefits. You will need to find out what works best for you.Whether it’s a 100 word post or 500 word post. always make sure the content is useful for the reader.

How do I write popular posts? Why can’t I write popular posts?

Popular posts are your blogs main attention and most important content on your blog. The first thing most visitors do when visiting a blog is look at the most popular posts. If they like the content they will check other posts as well, if they don’t they will leave.

If only you could make every post a success and attract lots of visitors and comments on your blog for every post you published.

Lets just say you was in this situation:

You write a post for your blog in the evening, you test read it for any grammar mistakes and after your satisfied you publish it. After publishing you want to have a break after all the hard work and start watching TV.  Eventually you feel very tired and go off to sleep.

The next morning you wake up and check out you blog and to your surprise you receive 10 comments in 10 hours and get double traffic to that post you’ve made.

You are obviously over the moon and start dancing because you’ve just realized that you’ve just written your most popular post.Before going to sleep again the next day you somehow get the inspiration to write another post. Hoping to be just as successful as your previous post. So there you are writing another post in 10 minutes and publishing it and then go to sleep.

You wake up the next morning and look at your blog post and realize it wasn’t a big success, in fact it was the crappiest post on your blog so far.

So what did I do wrong………?

Well, I’ll tell you what you did wrong. You didn’t take the effort or time to write a good post again. Instead of taking 1 hour to write a good useful post you took 10 minutes to quickly write a post and let it become a success, because your previous post was such a success you thought this post was going to be a success as well, but don’t forget you took the time and effort to write that 1 hour post and for this post you just quickly raffled it.

How can I solve this problem?

Almost every blog has a most popular posts section, so what you could do is look at your own popular posts and ask yourself these questions.

• Ÿ Is the writing style attractive?
• Ÿ Does it have many comments?
• Ÿ Have many visitors bookmarked the post?
• Ÿ Does it bring in lots of traffic?

If your answer is yes to all these questions, then follow these steps

1.

Write similar posts with a related topic. Try writing a similar post as your popular post, because many people liked your previous popular post there’s a nice chance they will like your related post as well

2.

Follow up your posts by making series like part 1, 2, 3. Just like in television series or episodes, the producers like to keep it    interesting and decide to cut the series in episodes, so people will continue coming back and watching the show.

3.

Write posts with more in depth information. Once you’ve written a popular post you can always create a follow up post and talk about the topic by providing extra information.
